Hello dear ones,
How are you doing over there?
I walked through the park early this morning, and for the first time this year, the crisp air felt heavy with the scent of damp earth and fallen leaves. Autumn has arrived with its quiet, unyielding presence. Trees don’t cling frantically to their foliage out of fear of what winter might bring. They don’t bargain with the wind or demand another month of summer sun. Instead, they gracefully let go, trusting the underlying intelligence of the season to carry them into rest.
In yogic philosophy, this natural release mirrors the profound concept of Aparigraha, the practice of non-clinging, non-attachment, and letting go of what no longer serves us. So much of our internal suffering comes from trying to hold onto old identities, past achievements, or fixed expectations of how our lives ought to look. We treat our minds like attic spaces, hoarding outdated beliefs about our capacity, holding tightly to safety even when it keeps us stagnant.
Autumn invites us to examine our mental architecture. When we look at our mindset through the lens of yoga philosophy, we realise that true transformation requires a space to open up first. You cannot invite a new direction into your life if your hands are fully occupied holding onto the past. Stepping onto a new path requires the courage to let your old leaves drop to the ground.
This season, consider what mindset shifts are asking to be released. Are you holding onto a rigid idea of perfection? Are you clinging to a self-limiting narrative just because it feels familiar? Letting go is rarely neat or comfortable, but it is the prerequisite for fresh growth. When you soften your grip, you make room for new inspiration, clearer perspective, and a more aligned sense of purpose to enter.
Movement on the mat during autumn isn’t about pushing for peak physical performance; it is an act of grounding. It is using long, intentional exhales to settle a scattered nervous system, anchoring your feet into the floor, and remembering that change is not something to be feared, but a rhythm to be embraced.
What are you ready to release this October to make space for your next chapter?
With love,
Moving with you, exactly as you are.
