During my studies dance tutors would often lead yoga sessions in the mornings, to get us ready for a day of dance and that inspired me to take modules in both tai chi and yoga as part of my BA in Dance, as well as studying various techniques that ultimately have the same ideals, ethos and form. I started to understand that actually so much of the contemporary dance has been inspired by yoga!
As a dancer I’m very in tune with my body, I listen to it every day. I’ve learnt to utilise it and know that every day is different, and every day is a new opportunity to learn, develop and grow. My personal yoga experience truly blossomed when I travelled to India and had the opportunity to study and practice there.
There have been times during my journey where I have practiced more than I have at other times and my practice has adapted to the style and intensity that my body and mind have needed at the time. I am so resonated by the ethos of being in the moment, of it being about the process, of noticing subtle changes to really big changes.
