I started practicing Yoga at 16. A tutor at college introduced it into our daily practice and I began noticing what a difference it made. Any commitment to a practice will, but yoga is the coming together of body and mind, of breath, flow and stillness; which really forces us to look inward, to understand our own bodies and minds. It shows us how we perceive and in turn interact with the world around us. In yoga there are many limbs, and the philosophical and spiritual elements are perhaps the most profound, but for me what’s interesting is how it teaches us to get there. Through challenging our bodies with asanas or challenging the mind with stillness, when you sit with it, when you perceiver and stay in the present moments, that for me is when the magic happens.
